On Christmas Day this year for the 48th time, we will welcome the young and old, rich and poor, the lonely and those whose joy is overflowing, for a Christmas dinner with all the fixings, both in person at 97 S Franklin St, or delivered by one of our caring volunteers. For nearly five decades, this community meal has served as a reminder that no one should feel alone or forgotten at Christmas, and for many this meal may be the only celebration they have.
Our Story
This year for the first time, Gather Community Space will co-lead Christmas in equal partnership with First Presbyterian Church of Wilkes-Barre, and Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO). Four years ago, First Presbyterian Church helped create Gather Community Space, an independent nonprofit that operates community programming within the church building. Going forward, Gather will coordinate logistics, volunteers, and donations for Christmas Together, providing additional structure to ensure that Christmas Together's legacy of community spirit can continue and hopefully expand to other similar meals throughout the year.
